Determining the size of nanoparticles
The size of nanoparticles can be determined in different ways. Solids Solutions uses, among others, sedimentation nanoparticles, in which the sedimentation rate of the particles in a liquid is calculated. Based on this, the precise size of the particles can ultimately be calculated using Stokes’ Law. X-rays are used to determine the settling of the particles at certain heights and at certain time intervals. This ensures a faster result.
Dynamic light scattering method
Another method that Solids Solutions uses is dynamic light scattering. This method is suitable for calculating the size of powder particles. With dynamic light scattering, the powder is scattered in a certain medium, after which it is illuminated by a laser beam. Based on the scattering pattern, information is obtained about particle size and grain size distribution.
